Will nitrous blow up my engine?
No. If nitrous is installed and jetted correctly to an engine in good condition without any
weakness in the original design.
Will nitrous reduce the life of my engine?
Any performance upgrade affects engine life, that’s why in most forms of motorsport engines
are freshened up or rebuilt regularly. Nitrous is different from traditional tuning methods,
it is the only bolt on performance product where big (50bhp plus) horsepower gains are
possible after a days installation.
If the horsepower jetting is suitable for the engines specification nitrous will not
dramatically reduce engine life.
Can I fit 100bhp nitrous to my 1200cc Clio?
No. Three things affect the amount of nitrous you can use. These are:
- Overall condition of the engine – if it's covered 200k miles and burns oil, nitrous can
give engine problems.
- Engine capacity. This ultimately affects horsepower jetting. Larger capacity engines,
2500cc plus can handle more nitrous than smaller engine sizes.
As a rough guide the following bhp figures apply
| 1200 to 1600cc | - | 25 to 45bhp |
| 1600 to 2000cc | - | 45 to 100bhp |
| 2000 to 2500cc | - | 100 to 150bhp |
The use of a nitrous controller is recommended on all installations over 50bhp or where you
wish to run towards the limit of the engine.
- If there are any other existing modifications. Think of your engine as a cake. If your
engine can handle 300bhp and your have already modified it to make 240 bhp we can only reliably
jet the nitrous to take you to 300bhp.
Do I need to make any other modifications to suit nitrous?
No, but any parts that would improve a standard engine will also benefit a nitrous burner. This
only holds true up to a certain power output, with each engine having its own limits. The first
parts to show signs of weakness when using nitrous are usually the clutch then the ignition
components. Most standard engine parts handle more power than the engine.
How long will my bottle last?
Just like your petrol tank, never long enough! It is impossible to put a time to how long a bottle
will last due to the different sizes and the array of jet sizes available. As a guide an 10lb
with 25bhp jets will last approx 6 to 8 minutes.
Where can I get my bottle refilled?
Simply bring your bottle to us and we can refill it for you. We have an on site pumping station
and can fill, Nos, NX, Zex, Cold fusion, Nytrex, Wizard of Nos, and Edlebrock bottles on site.
How much is it to refill my bottle?
£5.00 per pound including VAT
Do you offer an installation service?
Of course, fitting charges start at £190 including Vat and increase depending on the specification
of the installation. Please speak to our sales staff to discuss your individual requirements.
I have a turbo car, can I fit nitrous?
Yes, nitrous can be fitted to any type of engine including diesels. Due to the intercooling effect
of nitrous forced induction engines often produce more bhp than the theoretical jetted amount.
Will a nitrous pressure gauge tell me how much nitrous I have left in my bottle?
Not accurately, It will only tell you what pressure is in your bottle and line. The only accurate
method is to weigh the bottle empty and then weight when its full.
